Apollo Animal Physiotherapy, Old Haine Road, Ramsgate, CT12 5AG
At Apollo Animal Physio, we firmly believe that each human being has something in this world that they are supposed to devote their time and passion towards. The Japanese call this idea ‘Ikigai’ – a reason for being. There are four parts to this concept. The first is “that which you love” – we at Apollo Animal Physio all have had a strong, deep connection to animals since we can remember. If you had a dog, you could almost forget any interaction – we would be talking pretty much exclusively with your dog!
We all have animals which we love dearly. They are our version of meditation every day – our absolute favourite part!
The second part to ‘Ikigai’ is “that which you are good at” – our devotion to animals has led us down a path of self-enlightenment regarding animal welfare. In retrospect, Laura has had animals in the past who were signaling that they were not 100% comfortable. However, she was not aware of their condition, simply because she did not know to look for the signs!
It is imperative to be a lifelong learner with an open mind to truly be the best that you can be, vocationally and generally.
The next part of Ikigai is “that which the world needs” – we support the idea that we must all try to leave the world in a better place than we found it, and we intend to make an impact on the lives of the animals we work with through improvements in the awareness of animal welfare. My career has enabled me to access an unprecedented amount of high-quality, peer-reviewed research. Through the acquisition of this knowledge we are now able to pass this on to other people via physiotherapy.
The next part of Ikigai – “that which you can be paid for” – let’s be honest, we all need to make a living, but we are just so blessed by the variety of personalities we get to work with, as well as being part of the team that allows them to live a happy, functional life. We count our blessings every day; grateful that we are able to make a difference through a career that we absolutely love.
Physiotherapy is a widely recognized adjunct to veterinary care when it comes to musculoskeletal problems. Having established the patient’s individual needs, a tailored physiotherapy program is applied with objective and time-specific goals that allow measurable progress to be achieved. We support you with specialist advice and a home plan designed specifically for your pet.
Whatever your animal’s age or problem, we are confident to achieve significant improvement when it comes to movement, function and pain management. Our proactive approach includes an assessment each session, which may inform the re-evaluation of the plan so that the therapy continues to be targeted towards the patient’s needs.

Only had initial consultation so far but my dog was very happy.jenny miller2024-02-10Laura and Heidi have been brilliant with our mini dachshund Tassel who was diagnosed with Patella Baja . She is quite an anxious dog but they have worked hard to build a relationship with her and calm her down. Tassel has now had 3 sessions and there is a noticeable difference in her ability to walk . We were given regular daily physio exercises for her and loaned a K9 fit bone to do them on. We are very impressed with the service provided and outcomes so far. UPDATE 13/4/23 we are amaze at the difference physio , lazer and aqua therapy has made to Tassel. Her leg muscles are more visibly defined and most importantly she rarely limps anymore. Before on walks she would start to limp within minutes and often needed to be carried. Now although her walks are time restricted to 25 minutes and building, she walks well and steady. She is so much happier and is once again playing and greeting other dogs without becoming aggressive towards them. Laura and Heidi have done a fantastic job on her and built a rapport with Tassel who no longer resists going for treatments and in fact enjoys her physio routine at home as well . Very happy pawrent and customer 😊 February 2024 update . Tassel has returned to Apollo for Lazer therapy as the cold , damp weather was affecting her legs again. Needless to say Laura and Ellie got her back on her feet again and she is back to her usual happy self 😊Andy Carter2024-01-27Ted has to see Laura because his hind quarters were not developing the same either side, and he has now become a whole lot stronger, he loves doing the exercises he has been given, and enjoys his time whilst he’s there receiving his treatment. Laura has worked with Ted the first sessions were intense and he had to go every two weeks, then we moved to monthly, now he’s finished, but Laura still wants to know about his progress. I believe that the treatment she gave Ted was second to none, she loves the dogs she sees because she wants them to be strong and healthy. And if she asks to do anything at home with your dog then please do it because it’s for your best friends (dogs) interest and yours because you then have a pain free 🐶, So if you’re looking for a physio for your dog choose Apollo because they are FIRST CLASS.stephen demartin2024-01-12Apollo Animal Physiotherapy has been our go to Animal recovery & rehabilitation stop for our poodle. Has just finished a session hydro tank. The difference in him this week is fantastic, he had to run in in the hydro tank water almost up to his back. The very next day he was doing full stretches with his rear legs many times during the day, he is still doing this 4 days later. I think he looks upon the hydro treatment with Ellie as his treat of the week. Thanks for all his help. My old boy (12yr Husky) had TPLO surgery and has been having Hydro and Physiotherapy to aid recovery and build muscle mass and strength. Ellie is knowledgeable and patient, explaining what each exercise and movement will do for my boy. Always welcoming and genuine care for their patients. Would absolutely recommend.Kim Harrison2023-11-02My dog Lani is having physio and hydrotherapy at Apollo in preparation for hip surgery. Both Laura and Ellie are so patient with Lani as she isn't always the easiest of patients. Luckily they give her the encouragement she needs and has made real progress. Cheese also helps!Miranda Haston2023-10-17I cannot recommend Laura and her amazing team enough for the help and support they gave us through the worst time with our little sausage, Nola. Nola suffered paralysis after a spinal disease (IVDD) unable to walk or feel her back legs. After working with Laura for 7 months Nola can now walk and live a happy life. Nola was treated with such love and care from the first appointment and not only that but Laura also made us feel at ease and well informed about how to do at home physio as well. The facilities and equipment were essential for Nola’s rehabilitation. Laura is one in a million and I would shout her business from the roof tops! I think Nola will miss coming to see her and giving her puppy dog eyes for treats!Angela Willatt2023-10-17My English pointer Cleo has severe hip dysplasia and arthritis, Laura and Heidi have been marvellous with her.Her mobility has improved enormously with hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and laser treatment.I can highly recommend the treatment she has received.Thankyou.
